Looking back on planning the perfect wedding for me!

Here are some of my own little decorating ideas and creations for my own wedding. Black, White, and Red are such classic colours. This I used along with the theme of red roses, which a adore. September 2, 2012 in Richmond BC, it was an incredibly gorgeous day! It was perfect! Creating the wedding of my dreams for a budget under $14,000. We had just under 70 guests in the end although we invited a few more than that.

We booked the perfect venue for the ceremony and reception at Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club in Richmond BC. Our venue included excellent buffet food based on the level of red meat feature you want. Also included is two other meat dishes (we chose chicken and salmon), salads, sides, platters, punches, alcohol, and dessert. The food was delicious! The booking is based on a minimum food and beverage price. We were in the Lakeside Grill Restaurant which is smaller but has two walls full of windows and a fire place. The banquet room is larger, more expensive, and has an elegant banquet style.

We hired an excellent photographer who is wonderful to get along with, takes amazing photographs, and is reasonably priced. I found Carly Faust Photography through a desktop picture I saw at work. I did a lot of research into photographers met with more than 5 photographers, saw their portfolio, and chatted with each one to see if we got along. It is important to make sure you work well together since you will spend your whole wedding day with him/her and this is the most stressful, exciting, and emotional day for many.

We had a very skilled DJ who Spun excellently well. We had good communication in terms of our scheduled songs for different special moments but we lacked coomunication in regard to the crowd he was going to be entertaining and the main styles of music. Rap, spinning, techno, that was not our style (especially for the older people). Our DJ was amazing at what he did and it was a shame I had to tell him to change his style for the crowd. I enjoyed his music very much and think he is an excellent DJ.I also did a lot of research into local DJ's and met with a few. Communication is also key. He had all the professional equipment for a fair price. This included, set up and take down according to the planned night, lots of excellent lighting, and fog machine. DJ Brett Alexander rocks!

We had a pastor of a church marry us. Our ceremony was unique, we combined Jewish and Christian traditions, scripture, the Jewish blessings, the breaking of the glass, unity roses (instead of unity candles). It was a beautiful and blessed ceremony. Not to mention the decorations for the ceremony! I rented two large urns on top of a stand all in black. In the centre of the urn was a 60" rose ball. Also two topirary trees filled with red roses. Made the bows with a fabric rose at the centre. These bows hung on the side of the chair and were conected with sparkly tool. A simple aisle runner, rose petals along either side of the aisle runner. Also up the aisle next to every third chair there was 6 tall vases with a beautiful arrangement of red and white roses and baby's breath. This is all perceeded by a small bridge that takes you onto the ceremony island, this bridge was lined with bows, ribbon, and a fabric rose.
